There’s no doubt that when a dude hits the gym, his physique changes. The shape becomes pretty masculine; v-taper from the broad shoulders, and muscular, and maybe lean. It’s a classic jock body.
There’s no surprise, then, that young dudes quest after this classic, masculine shape, beyond just because it might make them better at sports. There’s something . . . social about it. And something very normal.
To get a handle on just how normal it is, show host Christian Matyi, a/ka/ “XN,” takes a look at the somewhat uncommon case of one young wrestler named Mack Beggs. He’s just a self-described regular dude, but if you’ve followed his stories in the news, you’d know there is a lot more to this young man than you might guess.
XN is joined by professors Kareem Kubdanchani and Stephan Pennington to pull apart the ways our body’s shape is not only informed by what we think of gender, but also recreates ideas of gender around us.
Plus, one of the coolest Little Insider segments at the end of the show. (CAT JACKET!)
